We had a small party in Kodokan Cafe for students who had worked for HUE festival (with the money we earned over weekend!)

After we had some food, we played BINGO game...

Cooking Sushi & Okonomiyaki!

We had a cooking party with Japanese students in the Gion Community Center.

All of us tried rolling Sushi, and learned how to cook Okonomiyaki.
(for some of the Japanese students who came, it was also their first time trying to roll a sushi!)

HUE Festival #2

more shots from the HUE festival.

HUE Festival #1

Short-Term Exchange Students and a group of Japanese students had a booth selling "mochi" (rice cakes and) "oshiruko" (rice cakes in sweet redbean soup) during the HUE festival.

Thanks to everyone's hardwork and efforts (as well as cold weather), we had good sales - enough to have a party!

"mochi-tsuki" demonstrations worked quite well to attract people, too.

Mochi-Tsuki Practice

We had a mochi-tsuki practice with some Japanese students at Kodokan on Sunday.

We all tried pounding mochi in the stone bowl, and here's what we get:

we tried with sweet bean soup, ground soybean powder, soy sauce, and of course, natto (for some brave ones).

Tea Ceremony at Shukkeien

We had a "welcome tea ceremony" for exchange students at Shukkeien Garden.

Learned about how the tea master prepares for the tea ceremony with flowers, charcoals and tea bowls, and tried Japanese tea and sweets.

Even Japanese students weren't able to get up after sitting in Japanese style for a long time!
